Irene Lehtiniemi

Irene Anja Lehtiniemi was born in Noranda Quebec on September 17, 1938.  She was a happy little girl.

She was the first child of Armas and Aili Lehtiniemi (both deceased), and was predeceased by her brother Paul of Penticton, B.C..  She is survived by brother Leo (Barbara) of Glen Robertson ON, nephew Gregory of Ashton, ON, niece Sara of Ottawa, ON and five grand nieces and nephews.

Irene persevered relentlessly through many challenges in her life.  She valued her independence, autonomy and personal privacy.  She died suddenly and unexpectedly at the Toronto Grace Health Centre on December 29, 2023. 

Irene’s remains were cremated.  No funeral is planned. A quiet memorial will be held at winter’s end, at which time her ashes will join those of other family members under a huge pine tree on a  woodland property overlooking the Ottawa River.  There Irene will rest in peace.
