It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother who passed away October 16, 2023.
In 1956, with the encouragement of her mother Vashti, Ina Gittens took the opportunity to move from her home in St. Michael, Barbados to start a new life in England where she worked for London Transport. Starting a new life in a new place.
Ina met and married Mervyn Simpson Batson until his passing in 2020.
Mum and Dad saw opportunity to immigrate. In 1973 the family left England for Canada with their children Wendy Jacqueline and Susan.
A love of helping others lead to a career in healthcare where she worked for many years
Taking care of others while taking care of her family.
After her retirement mum rediscovered her love of painting.
Generous, kind, loving and so hard working. Mum will be missed by her family and friends.
Mum was a long time member of Unity. Please feel free to submit a prayer request in her honour.
