Ietje Elisabeth Jantina Vos (Lutgendorff) went to the Lord on April 26, 2026. She was surrounded by family when she left for heaven.
She was born in Groningen, the Netherlands on July 7, 1933. Her family was involved in the Dutch Resistance during World War Two, and she witnessed Canadian soldiers come to liberate the Dutch as they drove by in their tanks.
Ietje came to Canada in the early fifties, where she met and married Jan Vos in 1954, and became a farm wife. From 1965 onwards she lived in the Ottawa area and lived many years on the old Shaw farm in Navan, raising 5 children and helping with a multitude of farm chores.
After her 5 children grew up, she played an important role in helping to raise her grandchildren. She was known to many as "Gran". She loved Jesus, crafts, reading, gardening, helping others, and classical music. Some of her favourites included Bach, Jessye Norman, Kenneth McKellar and Mozart.
She made the best soup and oliebollen. She knew many recipes by heart. She was our greatest cheerleader and most loyal friend. We miss her terribly but are happy she is no longer suffering. A memorial will take place at a later date.
We love you and miss you forever. Thank you for being the best mom, Gran and friend.
