Henry N. Dancy

Henry passed away peacefully with family by his side on Dec 5, 2023 in his 95th year.

Henry was the middle child of George and Flora (Stevenson) Dancy.  He was close to his brother Bill and sister Jean (Dancy) Jones throughout their lives.  He was a true Toronto east-ender – he lived there all his life except for the last few months.  He grew up in the Beach and went to Malvern Collegiate.  He told great stories about living above and working at the family store on Blantyre Ave.   Almost all of his working life was spent at IBM as an accountant. In 2000 he was elected by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario to be a lifetime member of the Institute.   He used his analytical skills and good memory at the racetrack.  He said that he “didn't get rich betting on the horses, but he didn't lose money.”  Henry could give you a great history of Toronto, including all of the former racetracks.

As he aged, Henry first moved to the Avondale Retirement Residence on Queen Street, and latterly Kipling Acres Long Term Care. Henry's family would like to express their appreciation for the support that Henry received at both Avondale and Kipling Acres. Henry is survived by eight nieces and nephews and their families, who have wonderful memories of times spent together. It was a long life well-lived and he will be missed. A private family gathering will occur.
