Hayward George Roberts
April 17, 1950 – November 6, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hayward George Roberts, age 75, on November 6, 2025, at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario. Born in Twillingate, Newfoundland, on April 17, 1950, Hayward was a devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend.
Hayward was predeceased by his wife, Yvone Roberts; his parents, Douglas and Evlyn Roberts; his nephew, Dean Elliott; and his niece, Desiree Jones. He leaves behind his sons, Joel and Jeffery Roberts; his sisters, Joyce (Harve) Elliott, Magreta (Wilfred) Woodford, Jone (Brian) Jones, Goldie Roberts (and the late Larry Saunders), Rubby Roberts, and Ruth Roberts; his brother, Lorne (Jackie) Roberts; and many nieces and nephews. Hayward also held a special bond with his lifelong friend, Ted, who stood by his side faithfully since 1972 and remained a constant source of companionship until the end.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Hayward tirelessly supported his family, often traveling between Ottawa and North Bay to provide for his loved ones while striving to be the best father he could be. After retiring, he made North Bay his home for many years before moving to Barrie, where he spent the last decade of his life. Hayward had a soft spot for animals, deeply loving his little dog, Sage, and forming a close attachment to Paige, his son’s dog, who brought him great joy in his later years.
Tall, strong, and deeply family-oriented, Hayward will be remembered for his unwavering love, resilience, and the quiet kindness he extended to everyone around him. He touched many lives and will be profoundly missed.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no service at this time. Hayward’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
