Ha Vu Voisin

d. July 11, 2025

Mississauga

On Friday, July 11, 2025, Ha Vu Voisin passed away at the age of 56, after a courageous 13 year battle with a complex and rare chronic lung disease. She was surrounded by the love of her family at her residence in Mississauga.

Born in Vietnam, Ha earned a Bachelor of Arts from Ha Noi University before immigrating to Canada, where she later achieved a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Windsor in Ontario.

A devoted mother of two and a loving wife of 18 years, Ha was committed to her family. She navigated the challenges of her illness with incredible strength and grace, all while devoting her energy to the raising of her children. Ha also nurtured a vast network of friendships across the globe, building powerful, lasting bonds that transcended distance and time.

Ha had a passion for life's simple pleasures. She found joy in her hobbies, which included cooking delicious meals, tending to her garden, watching art films, knitting, and her love of makeup artistry.

Ha was a dedicated participant in a research study for over 10 years to advance the understanding of rare lung diseases. Her contributions allowed NIH in the U.S., along with their partners at UHN in Canada, to gain valuable insights into not just lung complications, but how complex organ interactions can influence disease progression.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical professionals and institutions that provided exceptional care and support throughout her journey, particularly honoring the efforts and relentless advocation of Dr. Theadore Marras of Toronto Western Hospital (UHN). However, this was far from a lone effort, and thanks cannot begin to acknowledge the vital support from Dr. Kevin Fennelly and Dr. Daniel Goldstein of the NIH (NHLBI), the University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) NHLBI Research Program in Maryland. The family also expresses their gratitude for Natrecia (PSW), Sarah (RN), and Dr. “M” (MD) for their compassion and unwavering dedication that enabled Ha to live with her family to her last day. Additionally, the family is grateful for the spiritual guidance of the Linh Son Temple in North York.

Ha is now reunited with her predeceased father, Thai Vu, and grandmother, An Nguyen.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium (737 Dundas St E, Mississauga). Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by Buddhist prayers from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A private cremation for the immediate family will follow.

Afterwards, all are welcome to join the family for refreshments at a nearby Vietnamese restaurant. Location details will be provided at the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Ha’s memory to the United Health Network, Toronto, where funds can be directed to Research. However, flowers may be sent to St. John’s Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium if received by 12:00 PM on Tuesday for those who would prefer that option.
