We are saying goodbye to a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, papa, great papa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend and dog dad to his bubba Chi-chi.
Gord is predeceased by his father Gordon Vacon and mother Elva Vacon (John Newton). Also gone before him is his sister Rosemary Marlor (Bill King, Jim Marlor) and his twin brother John Vacon. He leaves behind his brothers Fred Hartlen (Linda) and Jim Vacon (Barb) as well as his sister-in-law Darlene Vacon, along with many good memories.
Gord was a loving husband to Joan Vacon (Aiton) for 50 years. His children Tanya Prosser (Mike), Craig Vacon (Sarah) will feel a void in their lives. Sadly, missing their papa is Kaitlyn Campbell (Whitey Slade), Aiyden, Tristyn, Nolyn Prosser and Carter Vacon. Gord was thrilled to have met his first great-grandson, to have held him and tell him how much he is loved. Whitey Kevin Slade, you now have another angel watching over you. Many nieces, nephews and cousins had a loving relationship with Gord. They shared in many shenanigans, laughs and conversations that will be cherished.
Gord had a 50-year relationship with his in-laws. His second mom Reta Aiton, predeceased Bryan Aiton (Debbie and Linda), Marilyn Wase, Donna Marineau (Denny), Gary Aiton (Susie), Mike Aiton (Judy), Bev Aiton-Miller (Willy), Dave Aiton (Joanne) and Bob Aiton.
Gord had worked as a Health & Safety Rep. for most of his 30 years at Ford Motor Company in Oakville. He made and maintained many friendships from there.
Gord spent 20 years of retirement as a snowbird. Wintering in Winter Haven Florida at Swiss & Hidden Golf where he enjoyed making new friends, golfing, entertaining family & friends, cooking, karaoke and shopping for bargains. He especially loved golfing with best friends Paul and Judy Wase.
Our gratitude goes out to the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for giving us extended time and allowing us to create more memories. An extra special thank you to Dr. Jesse Solomon and Bob Tees for your support.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to donate to CAP (Cancer Assistance Program) at 555 Concession St, Hamilton On, L8V1A8.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, January 19, 2024, at the Rotary Club at 30 John St W, Waterdown ON and between the hours of 11am – 1pm.
The family is asking that everyone attending the Celebration of Life to bring a pair of fun & funky socks. These will be donated to the men’s mission.
Please bring a smile and a happy memory, as Gord's wish was to be remembered with a smile, not tears.
The Vacon Family
