It is with saddened hearts, the family announces that Gordon passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, February 23rd, 2026 at the age of 78 years young. Proud Dad of Heidi McAteer (James). Cherished and loving Papa of his 2 grandchildren: Brianna McAteer (Alex) and Mikayla McAteer (Marc), as well as his 2 great-granddaughters: Genevieve Dugre and Alora Gauthier.

Dear brother of William (Carol) and Christine. Predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Jean McDougall.

Gordon was a man born with a generous heart and an adventurous spirit. As an engineer his accomplishments were many and are found across the country. When not encumbered by the engineering world he could be found piloting the skies in his Cessna, Charlie November. His paddling adventures on the Nepisiguit river in New Brunswick were the things legends were made of. In his later years, Gordon never sat still and continued to use his knowledge and experience with new projects and helping others. One of Gordon’s greatest joys was when he became a Grandfather and then a great a Great-Grandfather. Only Gord would think it’s normal to give a nine and six year old operating lessons in a backhoe. Much to the delight of the granddaughters. Gordon was one in a million, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

An internment and celebration of life will be planned for the spring.
