Gloria Whalen

Gloria Anne Whalen (nee Jarvis) was born on Sunday, November 1, 1942, in Charlottetown, P.E.I. She passed away peacefully early in the morning on Monday, October 30, 2023.  After suffering from years of dementia, her body succumbed to acute pneumonia. She was preceded in death by her spouse John Norman Whalen, her brother Aubrey Richard Jarvis, and her parents Marie Emily Jarvis (nee Bruce) and George Alexander Jarvis. Gloria is survived by her children Henry Lawrence Whalen and Andrea Raye, Georgia Emily Whalen, her husband Wojciech Kaczynski and son Pawel Husar. She is also survived by her brothers, Orville Bruce Jarvis, Lionel Ross Jarvis, and Weldon Edward Jarvis. Gloria attended Halifax School for the Deaf and was first employed at Charlottetown Hospital as a candy striper and a housekeeper. She will be known for putting her hair in rollers every night (up until COVID 19 hit), reading the newspaper daily, and working Word Search puzzles and Sudoku. She enjoyed walking the dogs, visiting old friends, and baking. She will be deeply missed. An interment of ashes will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Souris, P.E.I.
