Gloria Eugenie Washington (nee Edwards) Born April 6, 1931 and passed peacefully and unexpectedly at home on June 29,2026 at the age of 95 . She is fondly remembered by her daughter Paulene Washington and her cousins in New Orleans and abroad and her many friends. Gloria was born in Kingston Jamaica and emigrated to Canada in 1951, where she worked for many years as a Registered Nurse on the Obstetrics ward at Greater Niagara General Hospital in Niagara Falls. She then moved to Toronto and retired as a Charge Nurse at Chester Village Retirement home. After her retirement she moved to Barrie and has since resided with her daughter. Mom loved gardening and growing her tomato plants and various spices every year. She enjoyed travelling on cruises and to various countries abroad. Mom had a witty sense of humour and enjoyed laughter. She remained mentally sharp up until the end watching her daily news shows as well as CNN. Many thanks to Community Health at Home  and Independent living services for providing the daily support that Mom needed to remain living in the comfort of home and also the St. Elizabeth nurses and the Barrie Paramedic team . Thanks and gratitude are also extended by me to Dr Shourideh-Ziabari for the great care that he provided Mom over the years.
