Gilles (Gee) Chamberlain

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Gilles “Gee” Chamberlain, who left us peacefully at the age of 81 on September 21, 2025, at Humber River Hospital.

Beloved husband of Lillian, Gilles will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his loving family: Blaine, Jill, Grant, and Scott. He was a proud grandfather to Daryl, Amy, David, Kevin, Courtney, Jack, and Owen, and a delighted great-grandfather to Marianna and Dean. He also treasured the special bond shared with his many nieces and nephews from near and far.

Born and raised on a farm in New Brunswick, Gilles grew up alongside his siblings, Richard, Paul, Gerard, and Patricia. From tending to chores on the farm to making the most of simple country life, those early years shaped his determination, resilience and hard working attitude. At a young age, he moved to Toronto, where he began working in a candy factory and also taught ballroom dancing—a passion that led him to meet the love of his life, Lillian. He went on to work as a line worker at Molson’s Brewery, dedicating 31 years of hard work and loyalty to his career.

Gilles was a man of many joys. A true handyman, he could fix almost anything and took pride in his skills. He found happiness in woodworking, had a lifelong love of music, and enjoyed spending time on the golf course. Known for his generosity, Gilles gave back in countless ways—volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, chopping and donating firewood, supporting women’s shelters, and helping at local food banks.

He also had a playful spirit that brought smiles to everyone around him. Gilles loved to dress up for special occasions—most memorably wearing his beloved pumpkin costume from September through October and carving massive pumpkins that became a family tradition. At Christmas, he never missed the chance to bring joy by dressing up as Santa Claus.

Above all, Gilles was known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need. He never hesitated to lend a hand, always putting others before himself. His warmth, humor, and selflessness will be remembered as much as the love he shared with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Event Room at 2200 Lakeshore Blvd West. Guests are asked to park in the underground Metro parking lot and take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in remembering and honoring Gilles’ remarkable life.
