Gertrude (Trudy) Cochran

Gertrude “Trudy” Cochran, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 13th, 2025 just two weeks before her 93rd birthday. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Cochran, and by her children Sandra and Alex, who died in childhood.
She is survived by her children Diane Grasmeyer (Ralph) and Bruce Cochran (Jackie). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Lindsay, Katie, and Glen, and by her great-grandchildren Corbin, Aria, and Lewis.
Trudy’s life was shaped by devotion to family, community, and service. She served as the Worthy Grand Mistress of Ontario, the highest-ranking female officer in the Orange Order in the province. She was also a long-time member of the Barrie Rebekah Lodge, part of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, where she dedicated countless hours to volunteer work and community support.
She loved to garden and took great pride in contributing to the organizations and communities she cared about. Her steadiness, sense of responsibility, and lifelong commitment to service will be remembered by all who knew her.
Trudy passed away at the IOOF Home in Barrie. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude for the care and kindness she received there.
Visitation at Basic Funerals & Cremation Choices Jennett Memorial Centre 152 Bradford St., Barrie on Thursday November 20 from 10:00am. Service in the chapel at 11:00am. Please join the family for a reception following the service. Burial to follow at Barrie Union Cemetery.
