Gerry Neeson

October 2, 1949 — June 28, 2025

Ottawa

The extended family are saddened to announce the passing of Gerry Neeson, beloved son of Gerry and Anna of Dorval PQ (both predeceased). Gerry is mourned by his brothers and sisters, Jim, Alice Petryk (Jim), Marian, Cathie Dy (Hans), John, Patrick (Beverly) as well as his many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and a number of others who while not related in fact, consider him one of their own.

Gerry was raised in Dorval and attended St Veronica's School and John XXlll High School. He grew up in a large, loving and boisterous family, all of whom were part of an extremely close-knit community on St Louis Street. As was the case for his siblings, he enjoyed being part of this extended family, and his life was enriched by all those he grew up with. He kept in close contact with the St Louis gang throughout his life.

Gerry moved to Calgary in 1976 to explore new adventures, and he loved the new challenges and opportunities he encountered. He was active in volunteering and coached various sports, including softball and ringette, and took an active role in the Legion. He made many friends while in Calgary and became a proud and vocal supporter of "the west", to such an extent that he even became (to the chagrin of all) a Flames fan.

In 2018 Gerry moved to Ottawa to be close to family. During these past years there he delighted in spending time with his close family many of whom were very generous with their time and helped him through his many health issues. He loved watching his young nieces and nephews grow and they saw him as a loving and kind uncle. Gerry will be remembered for his love of discussions on any subject and was never afraid of letting one know his opinion, in no uncertain terms. Throughout his life he was a kindhearted, generous and gentle man who will be missed very much be all who knew him. Rest in Peace Gerry
