Obituary

Gerry passed peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie with his wife Carol and sister Kim by his side on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 after a hard fought, courageous 6.5 year battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of Carol for 46 years. Loving and proud father to Ian (Senya), Emma (Rob), and Cameron (Karen). Cherished Grampa to Owen, Isla, and Sofia. Gerry will be deeply missed by his constant and faithful companion, Clancy.

Loved son of Kenneth Alexander Prescott (pre-deceased) and Anna Margariet (Marg) Prescott (nee Dick).

Dear brother of Ken, Rob (Chantal), Brian, Alayne (pre-deceased), and Kim.

Uncle Gerry will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Gerry had a long and rewarding 45 year career with Central Dental Laboratory, now Image Dental Laboratory. He took great pride in his work as a chrome technician and enjoyed mentoring new coworkers in the skills of the trade.

A man of few words, Gerry was a well read man and a lover of history, hard rock, and all things military. When possible, Gerry enjoyed travelling with his family (the Hawaiian Islands were a favoured destination) and making memories with his kids and grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge and extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dawn Ng and her oncology team, Dr. Hendrey Kolesky, Pharmacist Wael Eskandar, Ali Khonsari, Dr. Sayf Gazala and all the caring, compassionate nurses on the RVH Cancer and Palliative Unit.

In his honour, look for the silver linings, settle in and read a good book, listen to your favourite music, enjoy a good meal, wear a Hawaiian shirt regularly to share "feel good" vibes, and tell those cherished in your life that you love them.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A small private gathering is being planned for a later date.

If desired, donations in Gerald's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre - specified to the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, or a charity of your choice.

Rest in peace, Gerry - you will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
