A huge limb has fallen from our family tree...
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Timothy Vetzal, who left this world peacefully at his home in Newcastle on July 31, 2025, surrounded by love and his beloved animals, facing his favourite view.
George was the beloved husband of Dianne (Bowler) for 38 years. Together they were best friends, soulmates, and business partners who shared a love of travel and built a beautiful life filled with adventure, family, and a deep spiritual connection.
He was the proud and loving father of Timothy (Brittany), Shannon (Greg Dooley), Sarah, Victoria (Dustin Emmons), James (Deanne Mojica), and bonus daughters Lindsay Greig, Kristina Ellul-Brown and Lindsay Stacey.
George was a beloved Papa to - Marlee, Blake, Ben, Belle, Cohen, Jaxen, Hudson, Solomon, and so many others who gathered at the farm Friday nights for family dinner.
George is predeceased by his parents Michael and Norah Vetzal (Meredith), and his brother Patrick Vetzal. He is survived by his sister Susan Reekie (Don) of Barrie, his sister-in-law Arlene Vetzal of Bancroft, his stepmother Vicki Varcoe of Bailieboro, and his cousin Deb Van Londen, who stood faithfully by his side throughout his illness and final days.
Born in Bowmanville, George spent his early years there before moving to Agincourt, then on to Unionville, where he attended Markham High School. After graduation, he became a licensed electrician with IBEW Local 353. In 1988, he founded GT Services Ltd, which grew into a respected construction and service company specializing in cold storage facilities throughout Southern Ontario.
George was known for his honesty, loyalty, and generosity. His home was a gathering place - always open to friends, family, and anyone in need.
He will be missed more than words can express, but his legacy of love, laughter, and integrity will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
