It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Kapakos, devoted husband, cherished father and grandfather, beloved relative and friend.
He left us peacefully on December 5, 2024, in his home, surrounded by family, at the age of 90. George will be remembered by his loving wife of 53 years (Panayota), daughter Artemis (Jason), and sons Dino (Nancy) and Perry. He was a proud and adored pappou to Kalliope, James, and Penny. George is also survived by his brother-in-law George, nieces and nephews, Peter (Sula), Eva (Michael), and Adonis, and step-grandchildren, Jake, Kennedy, and Jackson. He is pre-deceased by his siblings, Nitsa, Pauline, and Sarandos.
George was born on April 22, 1934, in Paleochori (Xirokambi), Greece. He moved to Toronto, Canada in 1954, paving the way for many relatives and friends to join him as they created a new life and a vibrant Greek Community in Toronto. George was known for his generous heart and his witty sense of humour. He will always be remembered as a caring, hard-working, intelligent man who dedicated his life to family and was a friend to everyone he met.
George was loved by so many and will be deeply and forever missed by all of us.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, kidney.ca will be appreciated.
