George Economou

May 10, 1931 — June 14, 2023

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of George Economou (Toronto, Ontario). Born in Ziaka, Grevena, Greece on May 10, 1931, he passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023 at the age of 92. George is predeceased by his brothers Basile, Thanasi, Demetri, and his sister Despina.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Diamantoula; his four children Christos (Debora), Mary (John), Rita, and Nick (Shelley); his grandchildren Maria, Melina, George, Adrianna, Paul, Jonathan (Medea), Alexander (Stephanie), George, Madeline, Chloe, and his great-granddaughter Olivia.

Our father passed away to be with his family and friends on an eternal fishing trip where 30lb muskies and 6lb bass are everywhere!

George was a loving and devoted husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend. He always had a smile on his face, a quick wit, and a wonderful sense of humour. George served as the first President of the Grevena Association, as Vice-President of Annunciation of the Virgin Mary (Panagia) Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and also served on the Board of Directors of the Greek Community of Toronto.
