IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gaston
Desjardins
December 27, 1947 – January 13, 2026
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Gaston Desjardins at the age of 78. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on January 13, 2026.
Born on December 27, 1947, in Carlsbad Springs, Ontario, Gaston was the beloved son of the late Léo Desjardins and the late Jeannette Laniel.
A devoted and loving husband to Jacqueline Desjardins (nee Ménard), Gaston was also a loving father to Julie, Marc (Cindy), and Alain (Jenna), and a devoted stepfather to Kim (Brad), Tanya, Joëlle, and Julie (Mario). He was a cherished grandfather of Patrick, Charlotte, Max, Jake, as well as Fallon, Matthew, Jesse and many great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in his growing family.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers Claudette (Roger, deceased), Denis (Maureen, deceased), Ginette (Yvon) and Réjean (Carole). He was predeceased by his siblings Lise (David), Jean-Claude (Hélène) and Gilles. Gaston will also be lovingly missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as the Ménard family.
Gaston was the proud founder of the Optimist Club of Carlsbad Springs. His passion for helping others and supporting youth in his community leaves a lasting legacy.
He had a long career as a Branch Manager within the Fédération des Caisses Populaires de l'Ontario primarily at the Carlsbad Springs Branch before his well-deserved retirement in 2002.
He also served on the Board of Directors of the Caisse Populaire for several years.
An avid golfer, Gaston found joy and relaxation on the course, but his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family.
He will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and deep love for those around him.
A Celebration of Life honouring Gaston will take place on Friday February 6, 2026, at the Carlsbad Springs Community Centre (6020 Piperville Road, Carlsbad Springs, ON).
Family will be present to receive condolences from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a brief ceremony at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (bloodcancers.ca).
