IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Clifford
Montgomery
August 25, 1940 – January 30, 2026
Gary Clifford Montgomery passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario, at the age of 85. Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Gary was raised in Kingston and later lived in several communities across Ontario and Alberta before retiring to Gananoque, Ontario.
Gary was a man of traditional values—principled, fiercely devoted to his family, and proudly independent. He loved good company, a loyal dog, old cars, and construction projects that were thoughtfully overbuilt and designed to last. These interests reflected both his character and the way he lived his life.
Gary enjoyed a distinguished career in Real Property with Public Works Canada, where he was known for his diligence, integrity, and strong sense of public service.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Ena Montgomery, and his brother, Richard.
Gary is survived with love by his wife, Margaret; his sister, Anne, and brother, Peter; his children, Misty (Daren), Kevin (Jennifer), and Wesley (Chrissie); and his cherished grandchildren, Brooke (Daniel), Morgan (Owen), Samuel, and Koren.
In keeping with Gary’s wishes, a private family gathering will be held. Special thanks to Granite Ridge staff of
Harbour House for his extended care.
Donations in his memory may be made to Ottawa Humane Society
