In Loving Memory of Freda May Kidd (née Hardman)

It is with deep sorrow, yet immense gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of Freda May Kidd (née Hardman), who peacefully passed away on August 12, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on May 28, 1937, in Lion’s Head, Ontario, Freda lived a life defined by strength, resilience, determination, and kindness. She faced life's challenges with grace and perseverance, inspiring all who knew her with her unwavering spirit and generous heart.

Freda was the daughter of the late Jean Belanger and cherished sister of Janice Rae, the late Bud Hardman, Dorreen Helsdon, the late Teresa Lucente, Alfreda Belanger, and the late Daryl Belanger

She leaves behind her loving children, Allen Kidd (Lori), Karen Neath (Ron), and Gayle Kidd, who will forever treasure her guidance, love, and countless memories. She was a proud grandmother to Andrew Kidd, Ryan Kidd, Michael Reardon, and Justin Reardon. Freda also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. Nieces, Valerie and Sandi held a very special place in her heart.

Freda was known for her boundless energy, creativity, and independent spirit. An exceptional cook, her butter tarts and homemade pies became family legends and staples at gatherings. A fierce Euchre and Yahtzee player, she never backed away from friendly competition and was always up for a card game. She also loved trying her luck at the casino slot machines, enjoying the excitement and anticipation of every spin.

Rarely idle, Freda found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved gardening, taking pride in her flowers and creating welcoming outdoor spaces. Gifted with creative hands, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, and decorating, always finding ways to make things beautiful and uniquely her own. She also loved watching the birds that visited her yard and appreciated the beauty of nature around her.

True to her independent nature, Freda chose to leave this world on her own terms, with Frank Sinatra’s "My Way" playing softly at her bedside, a fitting tribute to a woman who lived with courage, dignity, and authenticity.

While she will be profoundly missed, her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy of strength, creativity, perseverance, and love will continue to inspire those who loved her.

In keeping with Freda's wishes, a private celebration of life will be held later, where family and close friends will gather to share memories, laughter, and stories in honor of a life well lived.
