Frances Elinor Sharp

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Frances Elinor Sharp (nee Arber) in her 85th year. She passed away quietly at Fountain View Care Community on September 3, 2025, with her son and daughter in-law by her side.

Frances will be missed forever by her children, Doug (Barb), Catherine (John) and Suzanne. Lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, Maeve, Mason, Perrin, Meghan, Jack and Logan. Fondly remembered by her sister Mary Valdal, sister in-law Ellen Sharp-Roworth, many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Frances was a wife for just shy of 60 years to the late William Sharp. Predeceased by her brother Ross Arber and sister in-law Patricia Arber, brother in-law Ivan Valdal, nephew Michael Valdal, grand nephew Garrett Valdal and nephew in-law Fred Bartley.

Franny, as she was lovingly called by her husband, was a strong-willed woman. She lived her life with a resilience and quiet dignity most people would never understand. Our mother was someone to admire and to draw strength from. When her long-time friend of 70 years, Dianne Oad, heard of her passing, the first thing she thought was “now Fran can walk”. It gives our family great comfort to imagine her walking beside her beloved husband, and maybe even dancing with her father George as her mother Alice looks on.

Please join us in celebrating the life of our mother on Oct 11, 2025, between 1 – 5pm. Eulogy will be read at 2:00 pm with food being served after.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the MS Society would be greatly appreciated.

We would like to thank the staff at Fountain View, who have taken great care of our mother for almost 10 years. We hope that her bright light and chatty ways helped brighten your day as it always did ours. It takes a special kind of person to work with the elderly, and we appreciate you all for your hard work and compassion.
