With great sadness, we announce the passing of Frances Cecilia Hunt, who left us peacefully on January 28, 2026, at the age of 98, following complications from dementia. A woman of grace, hospitality, and boundless love, Frances spent her final days surrounded by the family that was her greatest pride.

Her family will forever cherish her final words spoken on Friday the 24th; waking to see her son Christopher holding her hand, she pulled his hand to her mouth and whispered in a broken voice, “I love you, I love you,” before kissing his hand. It was a final, perfect reflection of the deep affection she held for her children.

Frances was a dedicated professional, retiring from the Canada Revenue Agency after 25 years of service. However, her true "work" was her family. Renowned as a legendary hostess, she thrived during holiday get-togethers and cherished the weekly dinners she prepared for her loved ones. Whether whipping up a favorite family dish or a decadent dessert, Frances's kitchen was always the heart of her home.

Frances had a zest for life that remained vibrant even with age. She enjoyed spending her winters down south and fondly reminisced about her travels to Hawaii. On summer days, she could be found relaxing in her backyard pool, soaking up the sun while listening to the timeless voices of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole, always eager to discover the latest musical hits.

Frances is predeceased by her beloved husband, Douglas (2001); her sisters, Deloris and Barbara; her brother, Douglas; and sisters-in-law, Velma and Colleen.

She leaves behind a vast and loving legacy, survived by her children Christopher (Jeannie), Sharon, Micheal, and Perry (Christine); her grandchildren Lindsay (Cory), Sydney (Simon), Melissa (Ben), and Allison (Tim); her great-grandchildren Madison, Ryleah, and Miklaya; her great-great-grandchildren Maddison, Archer, and Oliver; and her extended family, including 9 nieces and 4 nephews who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Frances’s life at a Funeral Service planned for Friday, February 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Hope Cemetery, located at 4650 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON, K1T 3W6. Interment will follow immediately in the Mausoleum. A gathering for family and friends will be held at the home of Chris and Jeannie, 617 Netley Cir., following the service.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, for their compassionate care and support during Frances’s final days.
