Obituary

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Frances Holloway. Fran passed away peacefully at the home of John (Kim) while in their care, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with cancer. Fran will now be reunited with her husband Wayne (d 2025) and her son Ronnie (d 1994) in peace. Fran was born on Feb 7,1950, in Hamilton On to John and Amy VanDyken (predeceased) and raised in the Holland Marsh (Ansnorveldt).

Fran was loved by all and leaves behind a family that she inspired with her courage and her devotion to all of us before thinking of herself. Mom leaves behind her sons, John (Kim) and Sean (Stacy) as well as grandchildren Arya, Nathan ( Jaida), Kassidy (Dan), Landon, Leslie ( Nick) and Dylan. Great-grandchildren Victoria, Briella, Ruby, and Vera.

Fran will also be missed by her siblings, Lynn (Keith, d 2025), Bev (Ed) and John (Fran), brother-in-law Al (Pauline), sister-in-law Cathy (d2025), and many nieces, nephews and too many other family members to mention, but you know who you are, and Mom loved you all.

Fran started working in the banking industry in 1967 at the Royal Bank in Bradford, where she met Dad, and it was love at first sight. Over the years, she worked at other banks as she followed Dad around Ontario and approximately 30 different towns and cities. Mom and Dad finally settled in Angus, Ontario, where they both started careers for Public Services Canada at CFB Borden. Mom had various jobs over the years, but spent many years working in the kitchens and enjoyed the company of all of her fellow workers.

After retirement, mom and dad enjoyed their time travelling. Costa Rica, Portugal, Cuba, to name a few locations, but most of all the Dominican Republic. They loved their time in the DR and visited well over 30 times, and made some great friends in the area. Every trip included a suitcase loaded with gifts for the local kids, baseball gloves, balls, school supplies, etc.

We would like to thank all of our great healthcare workers, especially the nurses and PSW’s that visited mom every day. You made her comfortable, you made her laugh and enjoy her final moments. We hope her courage and determination will inspire you.

“What mother means”, Mother is such a simple word, but to us there’s meaning seldom heard. For everything we are today, a mothers love showed us the way. We will love our mother all our days for enriching our lives in so many ways. She set us straight, then set us free, and that’s what the word mother means to us. Love you always MOM.

There will be a celebration of life at the New Lowell Legion, Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1-3 pm. Interment will be held at a later date.
In place of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
