It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evan Orr, who left us peacefully at home on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 5:30 a.m.
Born on December 4, 1941, Evan lived 83 full years, filling them with laughter, hard work, and the kind of stubbornness that only comes from deep love and good intentions. He was the beloved husband of Anne Orr, with whom he shared countless adventures, endless cups of coffee, and the occasional “spirited debate” about what was for dessert.
Evan was a devoted father to Ryan, Megan, and Justin, who inherited his intelligence (Justin, achieved an 87% average in high school without opening a single textbook), work ethic (Megan, worked 2 jobs while obtaining a double Major at Ottawa U), and sense of humour (Ryan, somehow!). He taught them the value of integrity, humor in hard times, and how to properly read instructions, more than once, before starting any installation or assembly.
Evan was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, where prairie skies and wide horizons shaped a lifelong sense of adventure. After completing his studies, he pursued a career as a pharmacist, a profession he practiced for an incredible 44 years. True to his nature, Evan saw pharmacy not just as a career but as an altruistic calling (actually, his father recommended it)— nonetheless, he was a healer, and pharmaceuticals was a way to help others feel better, live longer, and occasionally listen to his unsolicited advice about vitamins.
He was also, quite frankly, cool as hell—because Evan didn’t just talk about adventure, he flew airplanes. Not model airplanes. Real ones. The kind that leaves the ground.
Though Evan has left our world, his warmth, humor, and wisdom live on in every “Evan-ism” his family will repeat for years to come. The world is a little quieter without him, but heaven just got a lot more interesting.
Fly high, Dad — you’ve certainly earned your wings.
