It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Erik Nattkemper (aged 39), Lucie Kodouskova (aged 43) and their daughter Liliana (aged 6) of Ottawa, Ontario on May 20, 2024 in Quebec, Canada.

They are survived by their son and big brother, Alexander Sebastian, parents Dieter and Rita Nattkemper (nee Ladage) of Washington State, and Jan Kodouska and the late Alena Trubakova of the Czech Republic. They will be greatly missed by David Nattkemper (Daphne Sy) of Washington State, Jana Kodouskova, Zdenek Tobias and Paulina Bousvieux in Europe. Many aunts, uncles and cousins are also grieving their untimely passing.

Erik and Lucie loved dancing, hiking the outdoors and spending time with beloved family and friends across North America and Europe.

Lucie, a Czech native, completed her teacher certification in the Czech Republic. She was certified as a teacher in Ontario in 2019 and has recently worked as a supply teacher in Ottawa. She was a pillar of the Czech school in Ottawa.

Eric, a financial analyst with the federal government, was born in Saskatoon and had both Canadian and German citizenship. During his youth, he lived in Ottawa and the San Francisco Bay area. He studied economics, accounting and finance at North Carolina State University starting 2003 and later studied at the University of Tübingenin Germany to improve his proficiency in German.

Liliana’s bright blue eyes were always seeking out the next big adventure.

The family was a bright light and inspiration to all who knew and loved them and they were the heart of the Czech community in Ottawa.

The family offers our deepest condolences to everyone who is struggling to come to terms with this tragic event.

Details of a celebration of their lives will be announced at a later date.

In loving memory, contributions may be made to CHEO or the Ronald McDonald house charities.
