Elsie Veronica Prescott (née Elles) passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, at the age of 90 at Pleasant Manor Radiant Care in Virgil, Ontario, with her husband of 62 years, Keith, by her side. She leaves behind a family who adored her: her children – Terry, Cynthia, Sheila, Kevin, their spouses, grandchildren, and great‑granddaughter. She is reunited with her parents and siblings, and lovingly remembered by her sister Margaret, her godchild, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born on a Saskatchewan farm, Elsie was deeply proud of her heritage as the daughter of Austro‑Hungarian immigrants and the sibling of WW2 Canadian soldiers. She grew into a strong, spirited woman who devoted her life to caring for others as a Registered Nursing Assistant. It was while working at the hospital in Whitehorse, she met and married her soulmate, Keith – beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in devotion, humour, and unwavering love.
Together, they built a loving home where their four children grew up surrounded by music, faith, camping trips, handmade clothes, specially decorated birthday cakes, and the nightly ritual of singing You Are My Sunshine. Elsie embraced life with enthusiasm – playing softball, bowling, curling, and taking bagpipe lessons – but, her greatest joy was undoubtedly, square dancing in Keith’s arms. She showed her family how to work hard, laugh often, and love without holding back.
We will miss her fiercely, but we carry her strength, her sparkle, and her love with us always. We celebrate her today with gratitude for the love she gave so freely, and for the way she made all of us feel cherished. May her light continue to guide us, just as her love always did.
