Elizabeth Noble Donaldson (nee McHardy)

Elizabeth Noble Donaldson (née McHardy), 89, passed on May 16, 2025. Loving wife to Malcolm; mother to Malcolm and his wife, Deborah, Elizabeth, and Alan; and sister-in-law to Jean Laing and James Grady. She will be lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She immigrated to Canada from Glasgow in 1960, two small children in tow, following her husband, who settled shortly before. She found work at Ecclesiastical Insurance, where she stayed until her retirement. After she retired, she relocated to Bayshore Village with her husband and was an active volunteer in the community, lending her services to the Bayshore Residents Association as an auditor.

She was a wonderful baker, cook, and knitter—some of the sweaters she made for her grandchildren have been passed down to the next generation and both her pecan pie and classic cheesecake are legendary in the Donaldson family. While in Bayshore Village, she enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren, of whom she was very proud, and loved spending time in her garden. She was a proud Scot, but equally happy to have found her home in Canada.

She is predeceased by her husband, Malcolm, her son, Alan, her brother, Hugh, and her sister, Edith. Elizabeth’s family will celebrate her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
