It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Earl Smith, who peacefully passed with his family by his side on July 3, 2025, at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario, at the age of 67. Born on August 18, 1957, in Scarborough, Ontario, Earl lived a life marked by love, laughter, and an enduring commitment to those he cherished.
Earl’s life was a testament to the power of connection and the importance of family. He built a life centered around the relationships that mattered most, particularly his devoted bond with his beloved wife and best friend, Cindy Smith. Their 43 years together were a beautifully shared experiences, unwavering support, and an enduring love that served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
Earl was a devoted father to his children, Andrew, affectionately known as "Bud," and Lyndsay (Nick), whom he lovingly referred to as his "Pooh Bear." He was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering love, always present to celebrate their achievements and offer comfort during challenging times. He instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and the importance of family.
The joy of Earl’s life was amplified with the arrival of his twin granddaughters, Lea and Lexis. To them, he was “Poppa”, a source of endless cuddles, playful energy, and unwavering love. The bond they shared brought immeasurable happiness to Earl, and they will forever cherish the memories they created together. Earl also had a special love for his dog Brodie, who brought him much joy and companionship.
Earl was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Marie Smith, and his brother Glenn. He is survived by his brother Terry, his beloved wife Cindy, his children Andrew and Lyndsay his son in law Nick, his granddaughters Lea and Lexis, and his sister-in-law Lynda (predeceased by brother in law Ted). He also leaves behind a cherished legacy of love, leaving behind nieces, nephews, many family members and friends.
Earl has worked for Ideal Supplies for 20+ years and he loved his job and his customers met everything to him. The friendships they have met will be ever-lasting.
Earl’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His memory will be treasured for his unwavering love, his kind heart, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire us all to live life to the fullest, to cherish the bonds of family, and to approach each day with love and compassion.
A celebration of Earl’s life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Earl's name to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie to the Cancer and palliative unit in honor of the care and support he received in the last of his days.
