[Toronto, ON] – Dorothy May Jenkins, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and treasured friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on August 8, 1928, in Toronto to the late Abraham Stiff and Irene Marshall, Dorothy lived a life defined by unwavering love, warm embraces, and countless moments of laughter.
Known to many simply as “May,” and to those closest to her as “Mom,” she poured her heart into her family. With a quiet strength, generous spirit, and a smile that warmed any room, she created a home where all felt safe and welcomed. She will be forever remembered for the joy she found in a deck of cards and the sweetness she shared through her famous butter tarts.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.”— Helen Keller
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Karen Balmer (Ken Balmer), Sandy Komher (Dennis Komher), and Sharon Jenkins; her many grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and great‑great‑grandchildren; as well as her surviving sibling Irene Stiff, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is now reunited in passing with her beloved husband, Andrew Jenkins, along with her children Judy Jenkins, Carol Salter, Rick Jenkins, and Troy Jenkins.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family connection—a legacy that will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A burial will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens on September 20th (More to Follow).
