Dorothy Ellis Brouitt (nee Alder) was born January 23, 1926 in Montreal. 

She passed away peacefully, December 27, 2025 in Toronto.She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Frederick Brouitt, and sisters Maisie and Vera.Cherished mother to Stephen, Wendy, and David, mother-in-law to Lynn, Patrick, and Marilyn, grandmother to Alexandra and Chloe, and great grandmother to Wyatt. Dorothy was also a loving aunt to 7 nephews and their families.

When she was just 19 years old, she moved to England where she met her beloved Robert, a dashing RAF pilot. It was love at first sight. They married and started a family, eventually moving to Montreal in the late 1950s.Camping trips to Prince Edward Island were a highlight during those years as the family grew. It was a house filled with laughter, music, and wonderful memories.Dorothy worked for many years at Bayer Canada, making lasting friends. 

She retired to an active life, enjoying time with her sisters, children, and grandchildren. She loved traveling including an excursion above the Arctic Circle to Frobisher Bay, a trip to New Zealand to visit long time family friends, annual summer visits to England, as well as travel to spots all over Canada and the US.When she wasn’t staying active by bowling, Dorothy spent time baking. Her rice krispie squares were a favourite of her granddaughters, and she made a spectacular Christmas pudding and yummy date squares. Dorothy was known for her gentle and caring spirit, and she enjoyed volunteering at her church and with meals on wheels. She remained independent well into her 90s and was surrounded by multi-generations of family on her 90th birthday on an unforgettable summer day at Otter Lake.

There will be a celebration of Dorothy’s life in the coming months.
