Donna Kain

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna on June 1, 2023, in her 80th year, after a courageous ten-month battle with brain cancer. She is now reunited with her husband, Randy; sister, Pat; and parents, Jack and Jean Kain. Beloved mother to Tim Hayward (Sheri-Lynn); and Nana to Caitlyn. She shared a special bond with Sandra Lester and was Mimi to her son, Jasper. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Shari Clark (Rich); and by her nieces and nephews.

Donna spent several years as a hairdresser, and then worked for decades as a receptionist and secretary at St. Hilda's, where she was cherished by staff and residents alike for her helpfulness and positive attitude that brightened their day. As a retiree, she pursued hobbies of genealogy, painting, quilting and fabric art, sometimes merging them together. She also never stopped giving back by knitting scarves and hats for newborns and the less privileged.

The family would like to thank Donna's friends and the staff at Delmanor Elgin Mills for their support over the last few months; as well as Hospice Vaughan for their dignified care during her final weeks. A celebration of her life will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to Hospice Vaughan would be appreciated.
