Donna Jean Canning, 62, of Barrie, Ontario, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at Hospice Simcoe after a brief illness.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Donna was the daughter of the late Joseph and Georgina (Lewis) LeBlanc. She is remembered by her children, Kelly and Kevin (Emily), and her cherished grandchildren, Grace, Maverick, and Cooper. She is also survived by her siblings Susan, Joanne, and Glen (Donna), as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Donna was widely known for her love of all things pink and her deep passion for country music. A familiar face in Barrie’s country music community, she was a devoted supporter who brought energy and enthusiasm wherever she went.
An avid knitter, Donna shared her talents generously, donating countless handmade items to local charities. Her giving spirit also extended to her work with Christmas Cheer Barrie, where she not only volunteered but also served as a dedicated member of the board.
Donna was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Blue Jays, and NASCAR. Though she never had the chance to see the Leafs win the Stanley Cup, she never missed a game. She also enjoyed weekly card nights and treasured the time spent with her friends, always bringing joy and laughter to those around her.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the friends who visited and supported Donna during her illness.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Details of a celebration of life will be shared at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Simcoe are appreciated.
