Donald Joseph Walter passed away at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan campus on May 9, 2026.

Born in Windsor, Ontario he was the son of Lavalle Walter and Mae Lillie Walter (Rose).

He was a member of St. Matthews Anglican Church in Windsor, Ontario. Donald lived his life devoted to God and his family, especially his mother who he cared for until her passing in 2001.

He is survived by his sister Mary Colleen Gignac (Bernie), sister Patricia Rouffer (Dave), and many nieces and nephews who he loved like they were his own children.

He was predeceased by his father Lavalle Walter (1970), his mother Mae Walter (2001), sisters Virgery Vanier (2015) Valerie Walter (2023), and Margaret Rukas (2016).

The funeral service will be held on May 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthews Anglican Church, 1600 Norfolk Street, Windsor, Ontario.

Donald was a charitable person who believed in helping those less fortunate than he. Memorial donations may be made to one of his favourite charities, The Downtown Mission, 875 Ouellette Avenue, Windsor, Ontario N9A 4J6.

We are given many gifts as we go through life. Some we are allowed to enjoy for a long time, others only briefly. But each gift has the power to change us, enrich us, to make us better people. Donald was that gift to us all. He will be missed by his family, and his friends at Village of St. Clair nursing home, as well as his church family.
