After a courageous battle with a short illness, it is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Bruce Armstrong, who died on March 22, 2026, at the age of 76.
Don will be forever remembered by his perfect partner and beloved wife of 54 years, Judy. He leaves behind his children Christopher "Bud" (Hilary), Sarah "Bean" (Jason), and Karen "Goose" (Tobin), and his treasured grandchildren Jack, Paige, Maxwell, Freya, Adalyn, Joslyn, and Lily, who brought him endless joy and pride. He is also survived by his sister Audrey.
Don lived life large and he wore his heart on his sleeve. He took pride in the life he built—marrying the love of his life, raising a family in South Gower in a home he built with his own hands, and working in government contracts with dedication and integrity. He went on to create a dream cottage in Barry's Bay, a place filled with laughter, family gatherings, and cherished memories, especially with his grandchildren, with whom he surrounded himself every chance he got.
An eternal optimist, Don set a model example of partnership, fatherhood, and friendship. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family & friends will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Three Brewers at 565 Kanata Ave. on Saturday, April 11, between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., where family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honour a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation, ICU Unit, in gratitude to the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and staff who became family in such a short period of time.
We'll see you at the lake, Don.
