Obituary

Dianne Emily Gayler passed away on October 31, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, countless memories, and more people whose lives are better because she was part of them.

Dianne was married to the love of her life, Cliff, for 48 beautiful years. Together, they built a life filled with adventure, family, and a love that stood the test of time. They started out young, taking on the world with nothing but each other. Moving from province to province, welcoming a new baby along the way, until eventually deciding that five children were enough to fill their hearts and their home. They finally settled in Barrie, where they built the life and family that meant everything to them.

Together, Dianne and Cliff raised five children: Amanda (Jason), Samantha (Cory), Melissa (Matt), Brad, and Micheal (Caitlin). And while raising five children was a life of its own, it was what came next that many would say Dianne lived for: her grandchildren. Joel, Nicolas, Alex, Madison, Mackenzie, Carter, Millie-Anne, and Grant-Micheal. Along with the bonus grandchildren, Jaxon, Marek, Emersynn and Marlee.

Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. There was nothing quite like watching her own children become parents and seeing her family grow. She embraced being Grandma with her whole heart, never wanting to miss a moment, a milestone, or an opportunity to be part of their lives. With Cliff right beside her, she treasured every memory and every moment. Her love will forever be woven into the lives of her children and grandchildren. Grandma will always be part of their story.

Once her five children were all in school, Dianne returned to work as an Educational Assistant, a role that allowed her to touch the lives of so many children and colleagues over the years. Whether through her work in education, volunteering her time with Christmas Cheer, or simply crossing paths with someone in everyday life, Dianne had a way of making people feel cared for.

Anyone fortunate enough to have known Dianne will remember her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help whenever she could. It seems that whenever someone discovers they are connected to Dianne, they have a story to share about a time she helped them, supported them, or made a difference in their life. That was simply who she was. She gave without expecting anything in return, and her kindness reached much further than she probably ever realized.

Dianne will be deeply missed by her siblings Joanne (Volker), Darlene (Wayne), Brian (Sherri), Kevin (Pam), Debbie, and Paul (Brenda), along with her many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a family who will miss her more than words can express. And, of course, a couple of her brothers will especially miss her date squares!

Dianne's life was measured not just in the years she lived, but in the love she gave, the people she helped, the memories she created, and the family she cherished above all else.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, a caring sister and aunt, and a friend to so many. Her presence will be missed in countless ways, in big moments and little everyday ones, in family gatherings, in familiar traditions, and in all the moments when we wish we could pick up the phone and hear her voice. For those who know, snowmen filled her home at Christmas time. They took days to set up and as the years went pretty sure Cliff lost count. The tradition will be carried on in her grandchildren who have been learning the setup, take down and how to never walk past one that makes noise without setting it off!

As we navigate our world without our wife, mom and Grandma we are asking for privacy. Once ready, we will share details of a celebration of life.
