Diane Kurtz

Passed away peacefully on Saturday December 16, 2023, at the Ottawa General Hospital surrounded by close friends and family, after a battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Diane, daughter of Jack Chortiw and Alice Ojenski was born in St. Catherines, Ontario on September 1, 1943. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years Dietmar Kurtz. Mother to son James Kurtz (Julie) and to unofficial adopted son Steven Head (Kim). Proud grandmother of Lily and Logan Kurtz. Dear sister of Nancy Burtch and the late Michael Chortiw (Doreen). She will be missed by her many Canadian and German nieces and nephews of which there are too many to name.

A private interment will be held at the Capital Memorial Gardens on Thursday December 21, 2023, at 11:00 am. In lieu of a formal service, a private celebration of life dinner will be held with close family and friends in late January 2024.

Thank you to all the staff at the Beacon Heights Retirement Residence and the many specialized doctors and nurses at the Ottawa Hospital for their care and support over the past three years. The family would also like to thank Hans Miebach, Hannalore Lauber and Vivian Saunders for their 40+ years of friendship to the Kurtz family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Hospital or to the Kidney Foundation of Ontario.
