Diane Hogan

October 15, 1954 — January 22, 2026

Orleans, Ontario

With a broken heart, I share that my wife, Diane Hogan, age 71, of Orléans, Ontario, passed away on January 22, 2026, following complications from cancer. Diane passed peacefully in her sleep, at home in her own bed—her happy place—wrapped in comfort, love, with me beside her.

Diane was my wife, my best friend, and my life partner for more than 33 years. She was caring, loving, devoted, sweet, and fiercely strong. She was the very best partner I could have ever prayed for and loving her has been the greatest gift of my life. Caring for her over the past weeks, months and years has been the greatest honour and privilege of my life.

She was a devoted and loving mother to our daughter, Kimberly, and a wonderful mother-in-law to Max and Nana to granddaughter Charlotte. She was a deeply caring stepmother to Mark Wesley Kennedy Hogan and Janine Marie Hogan. Diane was an incredibly proud and loving Nana to our grandchildren: Charlotte, Avery, Violet, Vienna, Jordan, and Brooklyn. They were her joy, her pride, and her heart.

She leaves behind her husband Mark Hogan, her dad and stepmother, Ivan and Bruna Spillenaar, her brother and sister-in-law Jim and Pat Journeay, sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Mark Bagnulo and sister Carol Last.

Diane was a woman of deep, unwavering faith. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and she lived her faith openly and generously. From her teenage years into her sixties, she sang in church choirs and church bands, lifting her voice in praise and worship. Her faith sustained her, guided her, and gave her strength through every season of life.

Some of my favourite moments with Diane were the quiet ones. Every night, we watched an episode or two of Friends together before falling asleep. It was our ritual, our time, and something I will always hold close. Christmas was her favourite time of year, and she filled our home with its joy. Every November 1st, without fail, she began decorating—garlands, wreaths, and multiple Christmas trees that were constantly adjusted and perfected until everything felt just right. Our home always reflected her warmth, her care, and her love.

I love cooking and was always trying a new recipe that I would share with Diane and to her credit she always tried it before asking for a grilled cheese.

Every year she would send a mountain of Christmas cards, each one with a personal message for the individual or family receiving it. Also, throughout the year she would send each of her loved one's birthday cards.

In 2018, Diane began a long and difficult battle with ovarian cancer. She fought with courage, stoicism, dignity, and fierce determination. She never gave up. She never accepted that it was terminal. She truly believed it could be beaten, and she faced every day with strength, grace, and faith that inspired everyone around her.

Diane was selfless and compassionate, always thinking of others before herself. She shared her light freely, and everyone who knew her was better for it. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and friend, and she lived as a reflection of God’s love.

She will be missed more than words can ever express by me, by our family, by her church family, and by all who were blessed to know her. While my heart is broken, I find comfort in knowing that Diane is now in heaven—whole, healed, and at peace—singing again, and making heaven a better place, just as she made life on earth more beautiful for all of us.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her name to any of these organizations that she loved and supported herself.

Service Details

Diane’s Celebration of Life service will be held as follows

Place: Lifecentre Church

Address: 2214 Innes Rd, Gloucester, ON K1B 4C4

Date: Thursday, May 14th

Time: 10:00 AM

Pastor Jason Boucher, her pastor and friend will be conducting the service in the church she loved so much.

It’s so heartwarming to know that her Celebration of Life service will be done by a personal friend in her own church.

After the service, refreshments and sandwiches will be available at the church so you can stay to chat and say Hi.

While May is still some time away, Spring was Diane’s favourite season and she would like to have her celebration of life at a time when birds are chirping, flowers are starting to grow, leaves are beginning to turn green and life is being renewed all around.

This gives everybody ample time to make plans to attend.

As well, many people will be making the trip from out of town and the roads will be much better for travel.

Diane’s wishes were to be cremated but not interred, so an urn with her remains will be at the church as well.
