David Clive Evans

It is with sadness that we share news of the passing of David Clive Evans at the age of 65 at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

David was born March 19, 1959 in Montreal, Quebec to Harold (deceased 2022) and Patricia (Quinn) Evans (deceased 1990). He is survived by his brother, Peter Evans (wife Leigh Fitzpatrick) and niece, Erin (Florida, U.S.A.); his nephew, Curtis Evans (wife Jamie) and grand-niece, Emma (Georgia, U.S.A.); his stepmother, Eleanor Ross (Kingston, Ontario); his stepsister, Larah Ross and his step-niece, Amrita (Toronto, Ontario); and his stepbrother, Daryl Ross (wife Sunny) and step-nephew, Hunter (Seoul, South Korea).Predeceased by his nephew, Taylor Evans(2001) and Step-brother, Bradley Ross (2012). We would like to acknowledge his good friend Ruxandra and family, Kyle and Bella for their kindness and support over the years.

David enjoyed working as an accountant for 35 years at Revenue Canada. He loved walking and was a lifetime member of the Bruce Trail Club. His favourite hike was at Rattlesnake Point. David was always keen to play a game of cards and the family has many happy memories of weekend long events of Settlers of Catan, with extended versions! He was an avid reader of fantasy novels. David loved family gatherings at Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Birthdays, and vacations in Cancun.

As a bachelor he was very independent and determined, and he made his own choices about life and living. He worked from home the last few years, retiring in 2022. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease when he was 49 years old, he successfully had a DBS (deep brain stimulation) implant in 2019. This was a huge success and we are very grateful for the staff at the movement disorders clinic at Toronto Western Hospital for all the amazing work they do. Despite his challenges, David came by VIA to Kingston to be with his stepmother and family over the last few years. He successfully lived on his own at home to the end.

After a 15-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease he was diagnosed with melanoma in 2023, which spread to his brain and hospitalized him the last 3 months.

He will be missed by all of us.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Food Bank or Charity of your choice.
