It is with great sadness that the family of David Joseph Bell announces his sudden passing on July 4, 2026, at the age of 75.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, George and Bertha Bell and brother Paul Bell. Survived by his loving wife Lillian of 54 years, daughter Megan (Lance Krueger), Grandsons Marshall and Russell, and dear sister Denise Bulloch. He will be missed by his entire extended family and friends, his many cousins, Aunts and Uncle, Brother-in-laws, Sister-in-laws. Dave was a cherished uncle and often a father figure in his numerous Nieces and Nephews and countless international students’ lives. Dave had a warm and caring heart with personality to spare that could be missed by people that did not truly know him.

He will also be missed by his furry companion Gypsy and grand dog Maeve (or Maïs as he called her).

Born in Almonte, raised in Carleton Place, Dave spent his early years working for Findlay’s Foundry, Hart’s Brewery, Digital, IGA, Chapman’s Lawncare and provided support for senior assistance.

Dave was simple man unapologetic for his ideas and could often been found at the local Tim Hortons with his friends sharing a beverage and getting updated on the town news. Over the years he had many hobbies from boat racing, fishing, hunting, candle making in his early years to baking which he loved to share with those around or picking leeks with his dear friend Willis Munro.

Those who knew Dave and sometimes even if they had just met, he would always lend an ear, share a laugh or offer some words of wisdom. He lived a very simple life and took pleasure in the small things whether it was a country drive with the windows down; zipping around town blaring the oldies; touring around town looking for good finds (some of which dear friends and family may have inherited over the years). He loved music and you would often hear him blasting everything from Marty Robbins “White Sports Coat” to Lou Begga “Mambo no. 5”; you always knew when he was coming on his scooter.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jennifer Laskey for her care and perseverance in the short time Dave was in the hospital.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion located at 177 George St, Carleton Place on Saturday July 25th, from 1-3pm (upper level). Please join us as we celebrate Dave’s life, share memories and enjoy some light refreshments and food.

Interment to follow at St. Stephen’s Anglican Cemetery, Church Road, Brooke, Lanark County.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Royal Canadian Legion (Carleton Place).
