Danielle Coates (née Godin)

January 18, 1952 — September 23, 2025

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Danielle Coates (née Godin) born on January 18, 1952. Danielle, a beloved wife, sister, mother and mamie, passed away peacefully on the 23rd September 2025 at the age of 73 at the Ottawa Hospital. She was surrounded by the love and support of her family. She leaves behind her husband Ross, daughter Liza-Ann ( Brandon) brothers Michel (Helene) and Patrice (Edith) and sister Anne-Marie (Marc).

Danielle shared 52 beautiful years of marriage with her husband Ross. Together, they built a partnership grounded in loyalty, laughter, and the determination to make the best of every circumstance.

In their early years, life took them from place to place, but no matter the challenge or the move, Danielle ensured that home was never just a house, it was a sanctuary filled with warmth, kindness, and the unmistakable sense of belonging. That foundation of love shaped their daughter, Liza-Ann, into the remarkable woman she is today, with her husband Brandon by her side.

Danielle found her greatest joy in her family, especially in her two grandsons, Tristan and Grayson. They were truly the loves of her life, and she delighted in every milestone, laugh, and hug they shared. To them, she was more than a grandmother; she was a safe place, a constant cheerleader, and a source of endless love and patience.

Her professional life was equally meaningful. For many years, Danielle worked as a dedicated Federal Government employee at Transport Canada. She took great pride in her work, approaching each day with integrity, diligence, and a genuine sense of purpose. She valued the friendships she built along the way, and she left a positive mark on every colleague fortunate enough to work beside her.

But beyond her accomplishments, what defined Danielle most was the way she touched people’s lives. She had a gift for making others feel cared for and understood, and her door was always open. Friends and family knew that a visit to her home meant being welcomed not only with open arms, but also with a comforting cup of tea, home cooked meals and honest conversation that could heal a weary heart.

Danielle’s life was one of generosity, love, and steadfast devotion. She had an extraordinary ability to create joy in the everyday, to nurture the bonds that mattered most, and to show people, through actions big and small, that they were truly valued.

Though she has left this world, her spirit will live on in the family she cherished, in the countless memories she created, and in the many hearts she touched along the way.

Danielle will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered, for the love she gave so freely and the legacy of family and friendship she leaves behind.

Please join us to celebrate her life Saturday October 11th from 11:00 to 16:00 in our backyard at 2710 Pierrette Drive in Cumberland, Ontario to share stories, laughs and tears while we say cheers to Danielle.
