Daniel Hamilius Mambourg

Passed away suddenly the evening of January 25, 2024 at his home at the age of 66. Beloved son of the late Jean-Jacques and Helen Mambourg and cherished brother of Catherine Mambourg (Rick Paine), Mary Mambourg (the later Phil Gooderham) and Sarah Mambourg (Paul Ashfield).

Danny was born in Peterborough, lived in London from 2 – 5 years old and lived the rest of his life in Toronto. Danny was very creative, quick thinking and adventurous. He was a kind and protective brother. Danny and his family spent several summers in Luxembourg with his grandparents and many relatives. Danny had some good friends growing up and one close girlfriend he loved.

Danny was always considered very special by his family and deeply loved by them. There was something that drew you to him in a good way. He loved his family very much and honored others with humility.

Danny always thought of others and how he might be able to help them. His smile was radiant and warm. He brought much love and kindness to those around him.

Danny kept in touch with his sister Sarah on a regular basis. They really enjoyed each other’s company.

Danny felt blessed when he came to live in John Gibson House. This changed the course of his life and John Gibson House became his home. The wonderful care and support he received from staff and residents was a huge blessing! Danny did some jobs for John Gibson House and this gave him a sense of pride and purpose.

A few years ago, Danny was asked to tell his story at a LOFT event. That was so special for him and moved many people. There was also an amazing picture of him that was put on the LOFT website. He was sitting on some steps and looked like a fashion model.  LOL!

Many of the John Gibson House staff have expressed over the years to his sister Sarah, their deep affection for Danny and appreciation of his generosity of spirit. Danny will be missed.

Before Danny died, he reconnected with his mother Helen and his sister Mary. All things coming full circle.

May all fetters have fallen away and Danny be free.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 24, 2024 from 11am – 12noon, at the Forest Lawn Chapel, 10 Linelle Street, North York, Toronto.
