Clarke Stinson Christy

March 8, 1947 — June 7, 2025

Ottawa

On June 7th, 2025, Clarke Stinson Christy drew his final breath surrounded by his family at the Ottawa Civic Hospital's Heart Institute at the age of 78. Predeceased by his parents, Reburn and Dorothy Christy (née Clarke), and survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Georgette (Simard), and his two younger brothers, Robert and Brian. Cherished dad to his 3 children and their loved ones: Andrea (Christopher Wilson), Phillip (Catherine Beck), and Shawn (Angela Smith), and proud grandfather to his 6 grandchildren: Luella, Colin, Sedric, Maeson, Freya, and Caydence—and his beloved dog, Rocky. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

Clarke spent his career as a civil servant with the Government of Canada’s National Archives Library, where he remained until his retirement. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed birdwatching, camping, walks with his dog, and time at the cottage. He also had a love of reading, history, and playing city-building games on his laptop. Clarke was a generous, community-minded individual who gave both his time and financial support to various non-profit, charitable, and political organizations. He was also one of the founding members of the Fairlea Park Housing Co-op, where he lived and remained actively involved from 1986 until his passing.

A celebration of Clarke’s life will be held at the Chapel in Kenmore (3249 York’s Corners Rd) on Friday, July 11th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Ottawa Humane Society or University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
