Christopher James Westerman known as Chris was born April 28, 1954, in Hobart Australia. Chris immigrated from Tasmania Australia in 1984 to wed Elizabeth. They lived in Rockland for many years enjoying life in the country and travel through the world and recently through Ontario the summer of 2025.
Chris transitioned at age 71 on March 31, 2026, at the Ottawa Hospital after a lengthy stay due to melanoma treatment and renal failure.
Chris is survived by his wife Elizabeth, also his sister Susan Olbrich ( Ben Olbrich) in Cygnet Tasmania. Survived by many cousins Carol and Tony Nichols and Allan and Tara Turner and many nephews and nieces in Tasmania and many cousins on Mainland Australia. Chris leaves brothers in law Lewis Poulin ( Linda Lines ) Marc Poulin ( Jean Rawling ) and Greg Poulin. Sisters in law Patricia Foulis ( Tom Foulis ) and Caroline Dufresne ( Denis Dufresne ). Chris was an important figure to many nephew and nieces. Chris was predeceased by his mother Elsie Francis Westerman and Alec Westerman his uncle Eric Westerman and Posie Westerman, Beryl and Bruce Turner and Raymond Poulin (Florence Poulin (still living) and Maria Blais (still living).
Chris final resting place will be at Dale's cemetery in Cumberland Canada and Millington's Cornelian Bay cemetery in Hobart Australia as per his wishes.
Chris went to school to St James college in Cygnet Tasmania . Worked in iron ore mining in Tasmania then immigrated to Canada to end up working in network cabling at Nortel and finished his working career as a grounds keeper in the golfing business in Prescott Russell He enjoyed photography and was a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. On his travels he excelled in photography and enjoyed time spent with his Nikon. Chris also enjoyed building around the house with his tools he was very creative, Also enjoyed cutting grass with his John Deere tractor. Chris was an avid movie watcher; he had a special gift for recognizing actors whatever age they were in an older movies.
Chris' childhood memories were at Verona Sands and Huon Island Tasmania. He always said those were the best times.
