Christopher Andrew Copeland, 54, passed away on June 13, 2025. Known to his family and friends as Chris, Copey, Big Bear, and by other affectionate nicknames, he will be remembered for his playful personality, his laughter, and his extra loving heart.
Born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, Chris was the son of the late Patricia Copeland (née Pirie) and Andrew Copeland, and brother to his beloved sister, Andrea. Growing up, Chris shared many happy memories with his cousins, forming bonds that were an important part of his childhood and family life. Anyone who knew Chris knows how much Chris adored his wife and children. He leaves behind his loving wife, Jocelyne Copeland (née Chéné), and their three children, Kylie Lyne Copeland, Tyler Luc Andrew Copeland, and Connor Christopher Copeland, each of whom he was immensely proud. Family was at the heart of Chris's life. The love he had for them was genuine and enduring, and it will forever remain part of his legacy.
Some of Chris’s happiest memories were made at the family cottage on Tiny Beach along Georgian Bay, where he spent decades enjoying the lake, the beach, and time with the people he loved. It was his beloved happy place, a place filled with treasured memories and sacred lifelong friendship.
Chris had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went. From his very close friendships formed growing up in Oakville to the special bonds he shared with his cottage community and friends throughout his life, these relationships brought him tremendous joy. His friendships were marked by laughter, loyalty, and countless memories spanning decades of friendships.
Chris had a tremendous love for sports and was exceptionally talented, particularly in tennis, golf, and downhill skiing. He loved the challenge, camaraderie, and time outdoors that these sports brought him. Craigleith Ski Club, Ontario Racquet Club, and the Credit Valley Golf Club hold years of memories and friendships that shaped his admirable athleticism and sportsmanship.
Chris also devoted much of his life to his family’s sporting goods business Frikon Industries, carrying on the business his father had built. It was a significant part of his life and his family’s story that Chris was proud of.
Chris leaves behind cherished memories, stories, and a space in the hearts of those who loved him that can never be filled. We will forever miss his laughter, his welcoming smile, his playful spirit, and his loving heart.
Rest peacefully, Copey. You are loved beyond words and missed more than you will ever know.
