Chet Kapinski, of Oakville, born on January 4, 1934 in Toronto, to the late Stefania (Stella) and Jan (John) Kapinski, passed away in his 93rd year on July 1st, 2026 in Oakville. Married to and preceded in death by his loving wife Jean Kapinski. Survived by; his sister, Jean Reed (John); his children, John Kafford (Debbie), Lorraine McLean (Grant), Janet Kapinski (Michelle), Michael Kapinski (Sandra) and Don Kapinski; grandchildren, Damen (Karli), Sandy (Dennis), Kane, Justin (Maria), Ryan (Lulu) and Paige; his great-grandchildren; David, Hunter, Lincoln, Logan, Mia and Hailey. Nieces and nephews Rachel, Natasha, Danny, (the late) Douglas, Carin, Cheryl and Corrine and their families.

Chet or Chester as many knew him, touched so many hearts. Chet was very passionate about music and was an avid and very accomplished accordion player. Watching him play was mesmerizing as he performed music in a unique style of his own. Belonging many years to the Hamilton Accordion Club, Chet never liked to miss an opportunity to play music and bring joy to others. Chet had the pleasure of being present for both of the Blue Jays championships in 1992 and 1993 when he worked security in the broadcasting section at the stadium. He went on to enjoy woodworking for many years making all kinds of artistic things that are still around to this day. Chet always enjoyed bringing a smile, not only to family members, but to many strangers he met along the way. For those who met Chet, it was usually an encounter to remember. The jokes, good and bad, were the definition of what is typically known as Dad jokes. They stuck to you whether you liked them or not.

Chet loved his family, and was proud of each of them. He always had a special place in his heart for the younger “little ones” and they, in return, loved spending time with him. We will all miss him dearly.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mian, Dr. Benjamin, Dr. Maqbool, Alexis from Ontario at Home, the nurses from Acclaim Health, all the PSW’s from Paramed and for the support from the Alzheimer’s Society and Ian Anderson House. A special thanks to the palliative care team at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital who cared for our dad in his final days.
