Obituary

Our Beautiful Chelsea Judith Ann Swinwood

Sunrise: October 17, 1988 — Sunset: August 29, 2026

There are moments in life when words simply aren't enough. This is one of those moments.

With hearts that are shattered beyond words, we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful daughter, Chelsea Judith Ann Swinwood, at the age of 37.

How do you say goodbye to your child?

A mother and father should never have to find those words.

Chelsea was our daughter first. We watched her grow, we worried about her, we celebrated her, we laughed with her, and we loved her through every chapter of her life. We never imagined that one day we would have to say goodbye to her far too soon.

Our hearts ache knowing that we will never again hear her voice, see her smile, or share another ordinary day with her. It is the ordinary moments we will miss the most—the little things that we once took for granted and would give anything to have back.

But Chelsea was so much more than our daughter. She was a sister, niece, granddaughter, aunt, cousin and friend. She was a part of so many people's lives, and her absence will be felt in ways we cannot yet understand.

Most importantly, Chelsea was Mom to Rory and Cohen.

Her boys were her world. Rory and Cohen, who will be 6 and 3 in the months upcoming, were two of the greatest pieces of her heart. They deserved so many more years with their mom—more hugs, more bedtime stories, more laughter, more memories and more of the everyday moments that make up a childhood.

Although they are too young to understand why their mom isn't here, we promise they will grow up knowing exactly how deeply Chelsea loved them. We will tell them about their mom. We will share her stories, her photographs, her laughter and all the little pieces that made her Chelsea.

They will know that they were loved beyond measure.

Chelsea will forever be loved by her Mom, Tammy Swinwood Howes, and Dad, Donald Howes.

She will be lovingly remembered by aunt Tracy (Gord), aunt Kathleen, her sister Tyla and her brother Trey.

She will also be deeply missed by her surviving grandparents, Judy and Dana Andrews, and Sharon, as well as her many cousins, great-aunts, great-uncles, extended family and dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her beloved grandfather, the late Walter John Swinwood, and her late uncle Troy.

There are so many people who loved Chelsea, and so many memories that will now become treasures.

We know there will be days when something reminds us of her—a song, a photograph, a familiar place, a little saying, a laugh—and for a moment it will feel like she is right beside us.

And maybe that's how we will carry her forward.

We will find Chelsea in her boys.

We will find her in family gatherings.

We will find her in old photographs and stories.

We will find her in the memories we made together.

And we will carry her in our hearts every single day.

Chelsea, our beautiful girl, we weren't ready to let you go. We never could have been.

If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.

Your life was far too short, but the love you gave and the love you leave behind will never disappear.

Rest peacefully, our beautiful daughter.

Until we meet again, Chelsea.

We love you. We miss you.

And we will carry you with us, always.
