It is with great sadness that the family of Cesar Riondato announces his passing on June 14th, 2018, after succumbing to an incurable illness at the age of 61, a condition he himself had accepted with serenity since its onset. Cesar will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Emilio, his sister, Rosanna, his sister-in-law, Zonsire, his niece, Emily, and his nephew, Daniel, and the many relatives and friends who hold him dear in their hearts.
Cesar left many good memories behind. We like to remember him for the great cheer he spread with his jokes, "a good way to break the ice", he used to say, a chill that he had often encountered by way of the mental illness that had marginalized him for most of his life. Had he not been condemned to such an illness that, to quote a close relative, literally "robbed him of his life", he could have achieved much in life, showing academic brilliance at an early age in his place of birth, Buenos Aires, Argentina. "He could have become anything he chose," remembers his older brother, "he was absolutely brilliant". And kind, so very kind-hearted, a rare combination in someone so intelligent. Yet not once did he complain of his dire lot in life, choosing instead to express his love for his family and affection for anyone that he encountered through the many gifts he gave. Those who met him remembered a smile that would "light up the room". We remember his generosity right until the very end in his forgiveness of us and his strength in accepting an inevitable death. A fighter to the end, choosing however to tiptoe out of his turbulent existence with a soft, final breath on a clear, sunny morning.
Let us then salute this fallen warrior on Monday, June 18th, 2018 at the Riverside Chapel on 1567 Royal York Rd. Visitation hours are from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by the religious service at 12 p.m. Burial will be at the Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Rd., Brampton, Ontario.
