Cathy Godin (née Catherine Mary Zuban)

In loving memory of Cathy Godin (née Catherine Mary Zuban), born November 7, 1959, in Montreal. She passed away suddenly on November 10, 2025, under the care of the Ottawa Hospital Intensive Care Unit following post-operative complications. She was pre-deceased by her dad Robert Zuban 3 years ago. In addition to her husband Alain and two daughters, Kristen (Josh) and Michelle (Kai), she is survived by her mom Gloria (Bugara) Zuban and her two brothers Gerry (Luisa) and Greg, and her three grandchildren Owen, Sophia and Lily. Cathy was married for 45 years to Alain Godin. They met working at A&P in 1977 and married in 1980. She worked at McGill University until 1986 when they moved to Ottawa and started a family.

She celebrated her 66th birthday as well as her 45th wedding anniversary just 2 days before her passing on November 10, 2025. Cathy was a wonderful wife and lifelong partner to Alain and a loving mother to her two daughters. She took immense pride in making every occasion a special one. Whether it was a holiday, a wedding, a birthday, or just a Sunday night dinner, she put her heart into making it memorable, not forgetting the slightest detail and making sure everyone was well taken care of. Holidays were extra special, but Christmas was really her favourite holiday. Her entire house was decked out in Christmas decor from floor to ceiling, with candy dishes filled with family favourites in every room. Her attention and care for others will be remembered. She took pride in preparing and serving delicious home-cooked meals that everyone remembered; no one ever left the house hungry. She put her heart into making holidays and family occasions extra special.

Cathy will be remembered for her outstanding generosity, her genuine personality and heart of gold. In her last years, she developed a passion for travelling with her husband and friends. Her last trip was to Argentina to visit her daughter Kristen (Josh) and two grandchildren (Owen and Sophia). She returned to Canada just a day before her newest granddaughter Lily was born to her youngest daughter Michelle (Kai), just days before her mastectomy. Becoming a grandmother in recent years brought her immense joy. She spoiled her grandbabies with all her heart and really looked forward to spending quality time with them and watching them grow up in the years ahead.

A very unfortunate and sudden post-operative medical emergency took her life even before she had the chance to fully recover from the mastectomy. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
