After a long, courageous battle with a Mantle Cell Lymphoma, it is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Albert Sanders, at the age of 81. Bruce was born in Montreal but moved to Ottawa in 1985.
Bruce is predeceased by his parents Albert James and Winnifred Joyce (Britton), and his brother Keith.
Bruce will be forever remembered by his wife Susan along with his children Gregory, James (Julie), Tammah (Andrew), and Brent (Véronique), along with his grandchildren Liam, Lucas, and Elina.
Also left to mourn are his siblings Timothy, Mary-Jill (Ross), and Wesley (Anne-Marie), along with many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was an academic which led him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, a Mechanical Engineering Degree, and an MBA. He also pursued many religious studies in his free time at St Paul University.
His love of music was learned from his mother and brought him joy throughout his life. He especially loved hearing the pipe organs in various churches around the city.
Bruce was an avid outdoorsman with many trips to Algonquin Park in his younger years, feeding the deer in the woods around Kanata, trips to Mud Lake, and embracing nature whenever he could.
He always enjoyed photography. In recent years, he would photograph strangers on the street and start conversations with them; many of whom would express how much joy and confidence Bruce’s photos brought them.
Following his passing, Bruce’s wish is to donate his body to science at the University of Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
