It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Brian Charles Penny, in his 56th year, of Barrie, Ontario, on Monday, September 14th, 2026, at home surrounded by his immediate family, following a resilient and courageous 2½-year battle with cancer.

Brian was the beloved husband of Dorothy, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Billie and Becky (Nick), and a very proud Grandpa to Oliver and Finley—a title he treasured above all others.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law, Hazel; brothers Allan (Melissa) and Stephen (Suzanne); nieces, nephews, close friends, and many members of the short track racing community.

Brian was a devoted family man and a quiet but loyal social butterfly who cherished the people in his life. He enjoyed car racing, which he pursued for many years, as well as camping, snowmobiling, and ATVing.

Brian was predeceased by his father, Ellsworth; his mother, Dorothy; and his brother, Donald.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian’s memory may be made to the RVH Cancer Centre or the OSPCA.
